Haruhi Art

I've seen the dance videos on YouTube, I've considered buying the silhouette t-shirt, but before last week, I'd never seen The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in its entirety. What a shame! It's as good as high-school/sci-fi/moe/existential anime gets. Its quiet, poignant moments are quieter and more poignant than others. Its art is fantastic, and based on the actual town the story is set in (Nishinomiya, Hyogo).

  1. you're kidding, right? is that where you were? i've been wondering how the people there felt about it. seeing your town/school being rendered in animation. you must see the series, it's quite beautiful.

  2. I think generally, they are quite blase... Nobody said anything to me when I watched Grave of the Fireflies and that's like the beach where we'd cycle past often... only the gaijin would be stoked, "hey, that's here!".

Actually, just about any corner you turn in Japan looks like it comes right out from anime/manga.. hahaha. but that street with the boy walking up it and the school field.. yeah... memeories.. word.
