Musical Baton

This is apparently going around, and it's been passed on to me by adri. And because I'm very cheong hei, I will unnecessarily annotate it.

----

Total volume of music files on my computer:

6498 songs, 19 days, 29.45GB
(My iBook is a little short on space. I have about 80GB on the other one. I spent most of my allowance on music from the age of 12 on up.)

The last CD I bought was:
Ellen Allien -
Thrills
(I haven't even heard it through yet, but her first album was brilliant, so much so that I fear this one will be a letdown. The album art is great though. A little like what came with Bjork's
Vespertine.)

Song playing right now:
Dave Pike Set -
Goodtime Charlie At The Big Washdown
(I met one of my JC juniors, Sheryl Quek, one day at the old Tower Records in Pacific Plaza, by the Jazz section and she recommended the Dave Pike Set to me when I had nothing else to buy. I got a sort of greatest hits compilation named
Masterpieces, and it's superlatively good. Hence that memory has survived to this day. Hi Sheryl!)

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:
(I'm choosing to list songs I've listened to a lot
lately)
1. Aimee Mann - That's How I Knew This Story Would Break My Heart
(I've been in love with this song ever since it was used in Kevin Smith's
Jersey Girl. Finally out as part of her new album, The Forgotten Arm.)

2. Kath Bloom -
Come Here
(How strange. Another movie song, this one's from Before Sunrise.)
3. Kathleen Edwards - Good Things
(Her album, Come To Me, is all around 4-5 star material. This closing track is decidedly a 5 star one.)
4. Jay Chou - 斷了的弦 (Broken Thread)
(I don't understand any words apart from the title yet, but this works something on me. Maybe it's the swirling theremin melody in the background.)
5. Stan Getz - These Foolish Things
(I love this so much that it found its way into my recent ISM story.)
Special entry: Rollins Band - Illuminator
(Henry Rollins' incredible 14 minute Blues Rock rant, with his new band, about the “LA Money Train” is mindblowing, and funny as hell. Newfound maturity indeed.)

Five people to whom I’m passing the baton:

1. Debbie C.
2. Ci'en X.
3. Janice K. Suzie W. on her new unlinkable blog
4. Joe N.
5. Kim M.
